The Scarlett Lily is a small company creating handwoven goods – specializing in baby wraps. Business owner Chelsey Tyshynski approached me to design a logo for this newly emerging tactile business. She wanted to use a red lily within the design, and she liked the idea of a flowing and abstract design.

From the examples Chelsey showed me, I could see it was great opportunity to experiment with a watercolour painted lily in the design, and I had an idea to use a very minimal and clean text. Chelsey assured me she liked the idea of using a watercolour design, so I got started painting!

I arrived at two logo designs – both using a watercolour red lily and very clean design. Chelsey loved them both (which is a great result for a design pitch!), so we went to work scrutinizing and deciding on which one she would would pick as a final logo.

Chelsey decided the second design was the one she preferred, so we made one little change by making the “the” type smaller, and the design was complete! Chelsey was a perfect client to work with. The design process went quickly and I’m super pleased with the final result: a design that’s very delicate but also strong – feminine and visually striking!
